About Us
The Garden Valley Seed Trust is a not for profit- private trust seeking to develop creative solutions to problems we face locally and globally in regards to food, sustainablility and children's issues. Comprehensive and multidimensional in nature, the trust works to educate, empower and provide resources for these issues.  Designed to be self sustaining, both programs and orphanage support projects are funded by profits from heirloom seed fund-raisers.  The trust does not seek donations as we are not a 501c-3 corporation (tax exempt).  Development of the trust began in 1998, coming to life in 2001.

The following three areas define the mission of the Trust and provide an overview what we are about.  They will affect all of us at some time in the future so we invite you in join in.
Orphanage Support Projects
Sustainability Issues
At the heart of the Garden Valley Seed Trust is the creation and development of long-term solutions to the global orphanage crisis.  With the AIDS tragedy in Africa and the economic problems in many other parts of the world, the orphan crisis is one of the greatest humanitarian challenges we face.  The trust seeks to continue developing direct funding for orphanages while creating ways for individuals and groups to build their own projects.
For those of us lucky enough to be born in the US, we enjoy a lifestyle unmatched in the history of mankind.  The problem is that we 4% of the world's population use over 25% of it's resources and produce 30% of it's pollution.  Thus, the reality is that sooner or later we will all face the issue of sustainable use of our global resources.  The trust seeks to provide information and resources for sustainable living and life enhancement.
Sustainable Fund-raising
To build and sustain the above programs and projects the trust has developed a creative fund-raising process.  The project uses heirloom & open pollinated seed packages- sold by schools for fund-raising at great savings to the gardeners in their towns to both educate about and protect the genetic heritage of our food system while building funding for long-term orphanage and sustainability projects. Basically, people in the community save money on heirloom/open pollinated seeds, schools make needed funds, the trust funds our projects, and genetic seed diversity is promoted and protected.
